Overview
Beltr is a desktop application that runs entirely on your device. We are committed to your privacy and collect as little data as possible.
What Beltr does not collect
- No audio files, songs, or music data
- No microphone audio or vocal data collected or sent to us
- No personal information or user profiles
- No usage analytics or telemetry from the desktop app
Local processing
All vocal separation, lyrics synchronization, pitch detection, and scoring happen locally on your computer. No audio data is sent to any external server.
Performance clips (Reveal Reel)
Beltr can record a short video of your performance so you can keep the moment or share it. It is on by default, asks you to opt in before your very first clip, and can be switched off at any time from the stage panel.
- Clips are created and stored only on your own Beltr machine, inside your local data folder. They are never uploaded to me, to Casa Vargas LLC, or to any cloud service.
- To move a clip to a phone, the TV shows a QR code that points to Beltr running on your own local network. Nothing is published to the public internet.
- Sharing is always your choice. When you tap Share, your phone’s own share sheet sends the clip wherever you decide (Messages, Photos, and the like). That hand-off happens between you and your device, not through Beltr.
- You can capture the full song or just the last 20 or 60 seconds, and you can delete clips from your data folder whenever you want.
Phone connections
When guests connect their phones as remotes, all communication happens over your local network via WebSocket. No data leaves your local network.
License validation
When activating a license key, the app contacts LemonSqueezy’s payment API to validate your key. Only the license key and a device identifier are transmitted. No usage data, audio data, or personal information is sent during this process.
Lyrics fetching
When lyrics fetching is enabled (on by default), the app sends song title and artist name to LRCLIB, a public lyrics database, to retrieve synced lyrics. No other data is transmitted. This feature can be disabled in settings.
Website analytics
The Beltr website (beltr.app) uses analytics to understand visitor traffic. The desktop application does not include any analytics or telemetry.

- LRCLIB: public lyrics database (optional, can be disabled)
- Website analytics: website traffic only (not in the desktop app)
- Cloudflare Workers: trial usage tracking
Data storage
All application data (songs, separated stems, lyrics, session database) is stored locally in your chosen data directory. Nothing is backed up, synced, or transmitted externally.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
