What to expect the first time you open it
Some platforms ask once before opening an app that is new to them. Each prompt is harmless and takes one click.

- Beltr is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally the first time, with no Gatekeeper prompt and no right-click workaround. Drag it to Applications and launch it.
- Windows
- SmartScreen may appear because Beltr is still building reputation as a new indie app. Click More info, then Run anyway. The Microsoft Store build skips this entirely.
- Linux
- On most distros, mark the AppImage as executable (
chmod +x) before running it. The.debinstalls through your package manager. - Self-hosted
- There’s no installer and nothing to sign: the image comes from GitHub’s registry under the CasaVargas organization. It runs unprivileged as the user and group you give it, and needs no account. The 5-song trial and the one-time license work the same way.

Why does Windows show SmartScreen?
Windows can show SmartScreen for new indie apps until they build reputation with Microsoft. Click More info, then Run anyway. The Microsoft Store build skips SmartScreen entirely.
Is the Mac app notarized by Apple?
Yes. The macOS build is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally the first time. Drag it to Applications and launch it. It needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer); Intel Macs are not supported.
Which Linux version should I download?
The AppImage runs on most distros without installing. The .deb is for Debian, Ubuntu and their derivatives, if you’d rather use your package manager.
Does Beltr work offline?
Yes. Once Beltr is installed and set up, it separates and plays songs on your computer with no internet connection. Looking up lyrics online and downloading music-video backgrounds are the parts that use the internet.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon, Windows 10 or 11, or Linux. 8 GB of RAM at minimum (16 GB recommended), a modern multi-core CPU and about 2 GB of free disk space.
Does it run on a Raspberry Pi or a Mac mini server?
Yes, as a container. The self-hosted image ships for Intel/AMD and for arm64, so it runs on a Raspberry Pi 5, an arm64 cloud server or an Apple Silicon Mac under Docker Desktop or OrbStack. On a Mac the container can’t use the GPU, so separation is slower than in the native Mac app. Details are on the self-hosting page.
How many devices can I use?
Each license key works on 2 devices, for example your laptop and the computer by the TV.
